But let me explain, prices move because of demand over supply, so if you have a townhouse in fourways, similar to many others there would have to be a large proportion of the 400000 supporters all looking to buy at the same time. Soccer suporters are not superrich and most don't have the means, even if they wanted to. There are a few who may well choose to buy a holiday home, but it is most likely to be on the beach in camps bay and will have little effect on the market in general. Other influencing factors are the recession overseas, the time of year- our winter is not our best time, and the fact that so far the biggest portion of supporters are coming from the USA and Americans don't own much property in SA. (it is far, and they have lots to choose from back home) But dont get me wrong, I believe this event is awsome and will highlight this beautiful country, and all our wonderful diversity to millions around the world. The exposure will have a long term benefit to our economy, travellers will make this a destination to vist and the overall effect is good for property in the future. I would not bet on it, in my view it will have little affect on the market as a whole!
